Life in Afghanistan – The TCN
Posted by Robert on October 5th, 2010
To read about the ‘Life in Afghanistan’ series that is being featured here, read my letter about meeting Tegan Godfrey.
Hey Hope your having a blast,
I want to explain for a minute what a TCN is and how hard they have to work for their families. TCN is an abbreviation for Third Country National. It is a man who is brought here from some third world country to work on the base. Some of there duties range from a simple desk job to performing hard manual labor in sometimes harsh conditions.
They work for dirt cheap but they do it with the highest of honor. They are providing for their families back home and are doing a great service for all of us over here. I respect them. They are the working man times ten because of what they go through and to what little they have. They do not desire what most of us have grown up with.
They just want their families fed and for their kids to receive some kind of education. Some of then men go years without seeing there families and have little to no communication with them. They just make the money and send it home. This is something you will probably never see on the news. I will send some pics as soon as possible. Still having trouble with the internet. Take Care. I miss ya and be safe.
Tegan
