KELLY CLARKSON
“Since U Been Gone” again and again and again and again!
Kelly’s already proven she’s talented, so why not phone it in on this tour and let backing tapes do the singing?
“Actually,” she says, “there have been times when I probably should have. Three years ago I was performing in Vegas, and I was so sick. I refused to lip-sync. I went out onstage, and it was like the movie Rudy. Everybody was clapping. I got a green ribbon for participation. It was horrible.”
So will we be seeing any “participation program” performances this summer?
“My songs are like marathons and everything’s live, so it’s a pretty big schedule for my body. I know how long I can tour for and be good,” says Clarkson. “I don’t ever want to put on a crappy show.”
OK, so what will we these non-crappy shows consist of?
Clarkson, who has been at work on her follow-up to 2004’s Breakaway, has between 30 and 40 songs prepared for her next album. “We’re debuting the material that’ll be on the album. We’re seeing which ones fit better in a set and seeing what fans like,” says Clarkson, who also plans on sliding covers from Patty Griffin and Ray LaMontagne into her set.
Hold the phone. What about the hits?
Don’t worry. “I’m definitely going to play all the hits,” says Clarkson. “That’s probably 75% of my show. I don’t even have to sing ‘Since U Been Gone’ because the whole crowd sings. They sing half my show.”
Which of this season’s American Idol contestants would Kelly give an opening slot to this season?
She doesn’t really follow the show, but “I hear there’s a rock & roll guy who’s bald, so maybe him.” We see you, Chris Daughtry!
Speaking of support bands, how does Kelly choose her opening acts?
“I like to have people that need exposure,” she says of her decision to have skinny-tie cuties Rooney on the road with her. “They’re a good band, and not enough attention shines on them.”
What’s Kelly planning on wearing onstage?
More appropriately, what isn’t she wearing? “I get tired of what I’m wearing, and I start taking things off. I don’t like feeling restricted.”

I didn't read all the comments for this thread, so if someone else has mention this, then nevermind, I'll echo it for you. Didn't someone from Rooney say in an interview that they thought Kelly sounded like Janis Joplin? Wow, Rooney, just...wow.
I'm disgusted by the way people don't notice Rooney? If I had a ticket I would be almost in hysterics! lol
The pop stars are here one day gone the next! I could care less of what they say. I know everyone has a opinion. Kelly said she would never become a "sex symbol" and shed weight? right? My dad is always is asking me "why aren't they on tv or in the mags already?" Time I guess. They are just pure rock n roll which is unseen these days.
well...i went to the tampa florida show to see kelly clarkson. I had a bad feeling that some people weren't "into" rooney, i liked them and i thought they were a cool band. I just think that they aren't used to a band where its not to regular pop you hear everyday. I am also going to the holmdel one in NJ so I hope they get better reviews. The one in Tampa, people were on there cell phones texting eachother, walking around and not really caring that rooney was playing. I hope for the best for them and they get a whole new age setting of fans from kelly because shes an amazing person and exciting to watch. Have fun to all you going to see her and rooney! I hope to see some of you in holmdel.

Sorry about that, yes, interpreting text can be very different, i thought you were complaining about the little blurb in the corner of the screen. All's good, again, sorry for the misinterpretation.
you got my post all wrong. of course it's good for Rooney, and of course the KC fans are gonna love Rooney. they'd be crazy not to. i didn't mean to sound ignorant, no need to school me. I'm glad they're on tour period. I meant it to be EXCITED. hell, i SAW their ROONEY ON THE huge arse movie screen!!! it was small, just a logo..but it was THERE!!! &that's awesome in my book. Vintage daisy, and thats a probably a good reason why Kelly said "“They’re a good band, and not enough attention shines on them.” This will be good for them to garner some new fans, she has a HUGE following of ALL ages, believe it or not. I beleive they will be very receptive to Rooney, like they were with her last opener, the relatively unknown GCB band. ( Graham Colton band)
These venues hold about 15-25,000 people, that's alot of exposure for Rooney!!
Steve
is crazy.
Saw an ad for the KC tour @ Regal Cinemas, It was KC dancing around and the movie announcer talking about her then it says "with special guests rooney" and it has their logo towards the bottom left...blink and you miss it. But it was there.
hahaha. that part stuck out crazily to me too. Is it a simile to the 'skinny tie' bands? or are they seriously saying that Rooney wears skinny ties? I could see lou wearing a skinny tie..ehhh, not much ned tho.
that article could be good or bad the way some fans are...say if they dont want rooney to become big then of course they will hate it but maybe some want rooney to be more out there....and skinny tie wearing? uhhh.... thats more the killers
