more like: a little assistance. a while ago, we all started a thread with our favorite poems, and i can't find one that i really liked. it was called "firecrackers"... but i can't remember who it was by. can anyone help me out? correct me if i'm wrong, but i think the poster was "criminally elegant", so if any of you know her, tell her i'm looking for that poem--or if you know it, please please post it and help me out. thanks!

Anyone watch Conan on Friday? Jason was on (for Marie Antoinette) and they showed a small clip of a movie he made when he was 9. He had Robert playing his son. SO funny!

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum, but I was wondering if you could all help with something!!
The ARIA awards are coming up in Australia (they're like the Grammys") and I was hoping you could all vote for EVERMORE for the Oz Artist of the year!
Evermore are an AMAZING band... their website is www.evermoreband.com ... definately worth checking out! Last year they signed an international deal with Warners so look out for their releases soon!! I think their first album DREAMS is already out in some other countries... but check out the music on their site.... its so great!!! They will also be touring your country (whichever you may live in) next year - so be one of the cool people and get into them before everyone else!!
Please help and support them by going to
http://channelv.com.au/V/Aria.aspx
and vote for Evermore between now and Oct 6. They are currently in the top 50 and the next round sees a battle between four of the coolest bands that you pick!
Thanks so much everyone and I look forward to chatting with you all soon!!!!

I think this is very sad.
BRISBANE, Australia - Steve Irwin, the hugely popular Australian television personality and environmentalist known as the "Crocodile Hunter," was killed Monday by a stingray during a diving expedition, Australian media said. He was 44.
Irwin was filming an underwater documentary on the Great Barrier Reef in northeastern Queensland state when the accident occurred, Sydney's The Daily Telegraph newspaper reported on its Web site.
The Australian Broadcasting Corp. said Irwin was diving near Low Isles Reef near the resort town of Port Douglas, about 1,260 miles north of the state capital of Brisbane.
Queensland ambulance service spokesman Bob Hamil confirmed that a diver had been killed by a stingray off Lowe Isles Reef but refused to say who the victim was until relatives had been notified.
A rescue helicopter was sent from the nearby city of Cairns, and paramedics from it confirmed the diver's death.
"The probable cause of death is stingray strike to the chest," Hamil said.
Staff at Australia Zoo, Irwin's zoo in southern Queensland, said they had heard the reports but could not comment.
He is survived by his American wife Terri, from Oregon, and their daughter Bindi Sue, 8, and son Bob, who will turn 3 in December.
I recently finished a book that was so beautiful , so passionate that I think all of you should have a chance to read it. It's called Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts and it is purely amazing. Gregory David Roberts wrote it while he was finishing out a prison sentence for armed robberies after having escaped and after he made a free medical clinic for slum dwellers in Bombay and working for the mafia, among other things. It's a long read (about 930 pages), but it's well worth it. Use this thread to recommend other books if you like. --Natalie
I know this is dreadfully off-topic, but take a listen and see what you think. They're an up-and-coming English band and the singer is German. Strange, you say? Funnily enough, they're pretty damn good.

I posted this in the strokes forum, and would like to get other thoughts on it as well.

..the other section wouldn't let me post. Bah. Anyways; http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.rooney-band.com/bboard/forum .. Only a few hits and not all of the sites and/or threads work, but still, it's the old board. Made me nostalgic.
I have never had financial aid and am getting some now for the first time. However, I am confused at which ones are loans and which ones are grants. I have one called Federal Plus Parent Loan for 6000, but it is not listed on my loan page. Do any of you know anything about financial aid?
Mates of State are coming to Sydney (where I live) and although I'm not completely in to them, they look like they'd produce an extremely fun gig. Any comments on Mates of State live would be appreciated you crazy cats.

Everyone's favorite new band (including mine), BIG CITY ROCK is playing the El Rey on July 6th with October Fall (Decaydance / Fueled By Ramen) and Need to Breathe (Atlantic Records).
These are great guys it would be cool if you could come out and support your local LA scene that is on the verge of blowing up. This is going to be their last LA headlining show of 2006.
Tickets are only $12.00. They have them on Ticketmaster.
Check out www.bigcityrock.net and www.myspace.com/bigcityrock
Everybody Else is in a contest to be able to play at Lollapalooza and the first round of the contest requires that the bands be voted on to continue. All they need is for you guys to vote because we all know they're fully capable of winning this thing if they get the chance to perform.
SO VOTE NOW!!!: http://www.everybody-else.com/chicago/voteforebe.html
I am SO excited about this! These two have been working together again for some time now and now they've formed this great-sounding duo named MILLION MILES... Debut comes out in 2008! Sounds like where The Push Kings left off! LINK: http://andeachforonly.com/MILLIONMILESframeset/millionmilesframeset.htm Damn not being able to insert breaks!
Tragically, on September 3rd 2001, Thuy was driving on the I-5 and was hit by another car and was killed on impact. She leaves behind only a small body of work and yet she still had a career ahead of her. Thuy Trang will be missed by many.http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0870962/bio This makes me so sad. I always played her when I was a kid http://www.edmund-foundation.com/StarsFolders/PowerRangers/RememberingThuyTrang/trinititle1.jpg

The 65 Episode Policy is a guideline created by Michael Eisner and Frank Wells in 1984. The policy is that television series on the Disney Channel are limited to 65 episodes and are then cancelled even if they remain popular. The idea was that this would force the network to continuously create new series rather than develop too much reliance on existing ones. In addition, by taking the shows off their broadcast schedule the network creates more demand for the sale of past episodes and movies based on the series. The figure 65 has not been an exact one - series have actually been ended ranging from 62 to 66 episodes.
That Sucks

Do any of you guys like Daphne Loves Derby and Cartel? I went to the Daphne Loves Derby concert in Orlando on Sunday and the Cartel concert just about an hour ago. I have some pictures if you all are interested. Both shows were AMAZING and the Cartel show was acoustic because the drummer and bassist were missing.
