That cop was hilarious in Cabin Fever!!!

As far as scary films go, I really liked The Shining. 1408 is pretty good too.

Its really hard to find stuff that will scare the shit out of you these days. Even though it isn't scary, every Halloween I watch Sleepy Hollow. Its just a fun movie to watch. I used to love reading the short story growing up.

Re: Re: horror movies... my list

{q a=[[Kt_Rob]]}{q a=[[IHeartRooney]]}When it comes to haunted houses and stuff like that... i'm scared to death. I just can't put myself through it.

BUT, when we're talking movies... i'm picky and tough to scare. I have quite the horror movie collection. I started watching horror movies when I was very young (at least 4). I wasn't restricted from much so that has caused me to adore horror movies simply because I understood them from a very young age. I could go on and on about them.

Anyways... here's my list of top horror movies (at least that I can think of right now).

The Exorcist - I'll start off with a perfect classic. Great effects for the time that it was made. Great script and a wonderful cast. To this day when I see people crawl really fast... I get chills and run away.

Rosemary's Baby - I waited years to see this. My mom always told me that this petrified her. I saw it last year and discovered that I should have watched it sooner. If I go into saying the plot I will end up giving everything away. Mia Farrow has great hair in this film as well.

The Ring - Really really good. I don't have a lot to say about it. I really like the concept of it. I think it's a good starter horror movie.

IT - Dear God. I used to have nightmares about clowns and it was all because of this movie. When I was little, my mom recorded this kiddie video for me off of tv... she had IT taped on the same thing. Every time I would rewind the video and push play, i'd see the tricycle scene for about 30 seconds before my kids video would start. I can still play it all out in my head.

Child's Play - My second favorite series from the 80's/90's. I used to rent the movies from the video store at like age 5. I just loved them! I always wanted a Chucky doll ( and still do). The movies were just so comical that I couldn't take it seriously and be afraid. For me, a lot of 80's horror flicks weren't about "scaring" you but more about pure entertainment.

Leprachaun - Thank you Warwick Davis... Thank you.

The Sixth Sense - Just a great thriller.

Nightmare on Elm Street - I have the box set of the whole series because, dammit, it's my favorite series from the 80's/90's. Freddy will always be the ultimate killer. Dream Warrior is my all time favorite of the films with New Nightmare following a close second. I watched these very young as well.

Finally..... SAW. No series can scare the crap outta me like SAW. Never ever ever. Tobin Bell is my hero. Side note... don't see SAW 4. SO many plot holes.

I'll follow in another post with the WORST horror movies.{/q}

Dream Warriors is my favorite of the series also! Freddy's dead is probably my least favorite.{/q}

AGREED!

{q a=[[Criminally Elegant]]}That's a really good one. Plus it has Jonathan Brandis and John Ritter in it. RIP.

Tim Curry freaks me out to this day.

You should watch the original version of The Blob. It's supposed to be a horror movie, but it really isn't; it's just really funny. It may not scare you, but it'll probably make you laugh.

Re: Re: Re: horror movies

{q a=[[Criminally Elegant]]}{q a=[[SweetTangerine]]}Also, you should try Suspiria, an Italian horror film with the creepiest music you'll ever hear. {/q}\

I've been meaning to see that. I really wanna watch all the old OG scary movies they talk about on Bravo's scary movie list that comes out around Halloween.

The Exorcist is so god damn scary. Just the poster with Linda Blair on it creeps me out so much.

Night of the Living Dead used to freak me out when I was younger.

Hellraiser, Rosemary's Baby, The Birds, House on Haunted Hill (the original, not the remake. it's actually really funny, but Vincent Price freaks me out.), American Psycho (again, actually incredibly funny, but still pretty freaky. worth it for Christian Bale's performance alone though. it's impossible for me to read the book now without picturing Bale as Bateman.).

I really didn't find the Exorcism of Emily Rose
scary at all.{/q}

the movie really isn't scary, but the fact that its my first and middle name scares the shit out of me.

{q a=[[Kt_Rob]]}{q a=[[PenCapChewerOnner]]}{q a=[[Kt_Rob]]}I like the old ones that are ridiculously bad but good at the same time. Like Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street. Carrie is one of those movies that is scary everytime I watch it. {/q}

Do you have a super huge crush on Tommy Ross? I see that movie and just fall for him every darn time.{/q}

I did until I saw the behind the scenes footage. He seems like a cocky bastard now.{/q}

Nooooooo!!! I can never see those clips now. I like Tommy Ross being all perfect and surreal.

Yeah, Suspiria was really creepy. There's plenty of fake red blood and screaming. What actually makes the movie though, is the music.

Have you ever seen the movie Audition? Same kind of thing, only Japanese.

Re: love it

{q a=[[gaeilstar]]}I really really like horror films, like i watch probably 5 or so per week.

The only one that still really scares me is the Exorcist. Religious scary freaks me out.

SciFi Channel usually has some pretty creepy movies on the weekends. I just got done watching Cabin Fever, again. Although not scary, it is still a good watch.

Alaleh, I never ever get scared either, so good luck finding scary ones! I just end up going for gorey zombie ones and such.{/q}

yeah everytime i hear about "cabin fever" all i can think is about the chick shaving her legs *shivers*

carrie

i just finished watching carrie, all that movie did was make me feel sorry for her and want to slap the mom across the face. definitely not scary.
trulyamockingbird

.

Suspiria is pretty fantastic. Goblin should do the music for every movie ever. And Dario Argento is just fucking awesome.

Homicidal is really good. It's really twisted and tense and... yeah, that's about it.
ImNotYourStar

!

I was raised on horror movies so it's rare that any movie scares me, but the Exorcist still does. I can't watch that movie at night with out turning on every single light in the house even if I'm with another person.

Boo!

Don't see Wicker Man. It's a crap movie.

As far as suggestions, there is like no good scary movies anymore. They just don't get under you're skin and give me nightmares like they used to.

Call me weird but I kinda like that.

If you wanna laugh at a movie that is supposed to be scary watch Cabin Fever. It's not funny at first but the more you see it gets funny.

Re:

Texas Chainsaw Massacre. First of all, I saw the first 15 minutes with my other teenage cousins at like our family reunion and it freaked me out so i just ate junkfood with my younger cousins and watched bring it on instead. i know, its pathetic. my problem is i probably couldve got the TCM but its after the movie i get freaked out like in my house lol.

I would advise you to watch the Japanese version (actually the ORIGINAL version) of "the Ring". It's called "Ringu" i think. Well, i have to say i didn't have guts to watch it. The book was enough for me to make sleep impossible for two nights.
And the American version, well, as for me, was scary enough too. Especially because then i suddenly received a phone call from some Russian woman i didn't know :D Huh, i don't believe in that kind of stuff but that was creepy.
elevyne

I don't know if you'd consider The Blairwitch Project as a really scary horror movie, at least I wasn't like really afraid when watching it, but the really scary part comes later at night when you're home all alone.
