American Idol

Anyone here watching American Idol this season? Who do you love? Who do you hate?

I hate Ramiele and Kristy Lee Cook. They need to go home ASAP.

I love David Cook. In the beginning I didn't really notice him at all. Then he took a horrible song by the turtles and made it enjoyable. After that he took the song "Hello" and made if wonderful! Each week I like him more and more.

In the beginning my favorites were Carly, David A., and Syesha.

I still like Carly...just not as much.
David has a good voice but he's starting to bug me a little.
Syesha has an awesome voice but she's become pretty boring.

Brooke has had some good weeks. So have Michael and Jason.

Cheesy Chikezie is forgettable.

Re: Basically

I am a David Cook fan all the way. This is my first season watching American Idol since season 2. I think David A. is so cute, but his cute act has only gone so far with me. Unfortunately, I too believe that he will be there at the end, a dual of the David's. David Cook should win. Carly is amazing, I love her even more because she represents San Diego (wootwoot!). I have to say, this season has a great group, I am definitely considering seeing them on tour when they come around.

On the flip side, I have less tolerance for David Archuleta with every episode. We are actively rooting for him to go home...even/especially Ethan. Unfortunately, I think this kid is in till the end. Ugh.

I continue to like Brooke, Carly, Jason and David Cook. I could live with any of those guys in the top two, but I'm sure it will be the dual of the two Davids in the end.

I downloaded Jason and David C's songs from this week on my ipod and got goosebumps from both of them on my way to work this morniing. love those boys!!!

Re: ....

Kristy Lee Cook aka The Colonel is GONE!!!

Finally!

Sadly, our dearest Michael Johns left us last week....which completely sucks! He was one of the best. I was really starting to like him a lot.

But at least David Cook is still there. He sucked last week singing Our Lady Peace *gag*. The studio version was pretty good though.

This week, DC redeemed himself for me. I hate Mariah Carey...but I did like some of her songs in the mid-90's...including the one DC sang. He did a great job and the studio version is good.

I'd like to Syesha to go next. Then it's really a toss up. I could live without Brooke on most days (she's good sometimes but complete crap other times.)

David A is really bugging the crap out of me but he'll be with us until the end.

Jason is alright even if he is high all the time. I could take or leave him.

I like Carly....hope she sticks around for a while.

Amy Lillian - What song did you sing for your audition? Was it shown on TV? My guess is "no", as you are probably too good to be shown as a bad singer, but were not selected to go through. Either way, good for you for trying.

Here are my thoughts....in no particular order:

David Archuleta - I can no longer stand him. He is so one note and I think his humility is sort of fake. Perhaps Melinda Doolittle gave him a personal call and coaching session?

KLC - I don't mind her. I know everyone else seems to want her to go home, but I think she would probably do fine in a Carrie Underwood (Country/Cross over pop) market. Mind you, I would never buy anything she did, probably, but I just don't find her offensive.

David Cook - I generally enjoy his performances and have come around on him a bit, but I'm not drinking the DC Kool-Aid quite yet. Btw, his hair is much improved, but I'm still shuttering over those baby photos...huge dome! I feel for his mother.

Carly - I actually think her hair and make-up are getting better. My husband has always says he thinks she's sexy, and I just don't see it...but I'm starting to think she's looking better. I thought "Here You Come Again" is such a classic song and she did well, but she probably should have chosen Brooke's song, Jolene.

Brooke - I admit it, I was so hoping for Jack White to join her on stage half way through....tell me that wouldn't have been the single best moment in AI history. I love almost everything she does, but I thought last night's performance was a little too up-tempo and almost bordered on "happy". That song is NOT happy...she should have been a little more dour.

Michael Johns - Best performance of the night...by a mile.

Sayesha - Better than I thought it would go. Although, hello - could she have chosen a more predictible song? She should have made her second half similar to the first (i.e., just done Dolly's version all the way through).

Jason - I thought the song choice was natural and perfect for him. I didn't think it was super memorable, but it was enough to keep hiim around.

Ramiele - She sang "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind". Well, she really doesn't...she has a good voice, but I just never really enjoy her performances. My vote is for her to go home tonight.

I just lovethat you said "huge dome" about DC's head...haha! Too damn funny. His hair is better short although it was a little too greasy tonight.

In the beginning...I never cared for Kristy Lee Cook but she didn't bother me much. Then she butchered "8 days a week" and I really started to hate her. That was just...wrong.

i hate American Idol. this could be due to the fact that my former college roommates would threaten my life if i interrupted their American Idol party nights.

two of them went to the LA auditions at the Rose Bowl. one of them got past the first rounds when they send out a little minion to assess you while your in line. but, that was as far as she got, thankfully. she sucked anyways. i'm glad somebody let her know. but, i can see how the process could easily be manipulated. it's all subjective.

i saw a clip of that guy with the dreadlocks on The Soup. dreadlocks are sooo wrong. feel free to pass that info on to his inner circle.

I sang The Difficult Kind by Sheryl Crow. It wasn't on tv they didn't do any recording of the auditions that day. I really dislike the way they do auditions but I might do it again this summer if I'm not working. I will also be more of myself instead of presenting to them what I think they want. That was my down fall :/

Soooooo many amazing singers were passed over for bad singers who made for good tv. It's upsetting but it IS a tv show first and a talent contest second.

Re: Top 9 - Mrs. Bee's Thoughts

First of all...it was hard to tell if people were good or not since I'd never heard the songs before. But here are my thoughts anyway......

Brooke - It sounds pretty good to me. I think this was a good song choice for her. "You're Brooke White." Gee...thanks Paula.

David - LOVE the new haircut. Glad he's doinig his own arrangement this week. Good job. Not my favorite of his but still good enough to have a spot on my mp3 player! (Sidenote...poor David had to go to the hospital after the show last night. He's doing okay now though.)

Ramiele - ZZzzzZZZzzzzz. She butchers a song from yet another genre of music! Way to go!

Jason - He's still "that coffeehouse guy." I don't think he'll be anyone but that. It might work for him. But I don't know if it works for this show. The second half of the song was good. The first half was kind of annoying.

Carly - Eh. Not a fan of this. Usually I like her...but that was just boring. I've never heard this song. Not sure how it's supposed to sound. To me, it sounds weird. I don't like it. And I agree with Simon. Her wardrobe choices are NOT good. Plus, she needs to lay off all that makeup.

David A. - He sings like a girl. His voice is too breathy. He has a good voice but he's such a robot.

Kristy - ZZzzzZZZzzzz. She puts me to sleep.

Syesha - Good. Not great. The note at the end was not great. And it was really indulgent and annoying.

Michael - Good. Second best of the night, for me.

Overall...the show was just a little boring for me. Probably because I didn't know the songs or really care for that type of music. I hope next weeks theme is better!

Here's how I rank the performances this week.....
David C.
Michael
Brooke
David A.
Carly
Jason
Syesha
Kristy
Ramiele

I HOPE Kristy or Ramiele go home. But it'll probably be someone else...like Jason or Syesha.

Now that you mention it... I seem to remember seeing some guy with dreads on Cheyenne. I have a friend that was kind of "seeing" Cheyenne for a while. Or they were just really good friends (still are). Not sure if they were ever technically anything.

I like Jason too.... I can't help it.

Re: The good the bad and the ugly

At last I can finally say what I want about the contestants without the mods changing things!

Ramen - She sucks the life out of every single song she sings. She's the only person in the world who could sing Gloria Estefan's "Get On Your Feet" and put the audience to sleep. She's the worst singer right now and deserves a ticket to nowhere.

Country Cookin' - She used to be my least favorite but thanks to Ramen she sucks a little less. Her song choices make me cringe each week and she'll only get worse. If Simon feels bad for you then it's time to belch during a song and get voted off. Do your self a favor and give your fellow hicktards a reason to stop voting for you. If she survives to the top 5 she's got to be blowing somebody.

Isaac - It was only a matter of time before he went back to the slow jams. I hate to hate him because he's not bad. He just lacks the musical knowledge to do anything on his own which brings me to the next losers.

Star Search - I travel in a large group of one when it comes to my dislike for this robot. He couldn't sing a good song if they turned off his mic and played Journey over his performance. I don't buy his shy act and I'm just waiting for him to destroy a country song.

Sighaleeshafawndalama - It's a shame that such an incredible voice is wasted on a person with such terrible taste in music. She'll get voted out once the bad people are gone because people will forget she's in the competition.

Dread Looks - If I don't look at his face when he sings it's not that bad. That being said, he's too high to sing anywhere besides a coffee house. He's just not that good. If you had brown eyes you'd be compared to one.

Now on to the winners.

Carly Simonesque - Say what you will about her. I like her. All the naysayers are just jealous because she's so darned good lookin.' Her songs are sincere and I think she could put out a good album as long as the record company keeps their producers out of it. If she can write as good as she performs she'll make some money.

Subaru Outback - He's actually my favorite. His performances are solid and he's got the strongest voice out of all of them. Nothing forced here. I'd also buy his album because I like INXS.

Good Daughtry - I really appreciate that this guy brings it every week and I think he'll come out of this with a strong second place finish. They'll put a band behind him and he'll be playing a state fair near you in a couple of years.

Irish Spring - I still think she's a plant and with the aid of Pro-Tools she'll put out an incredible album after they give her the win. They made a mistake with Reuben because R&B fans don't watch AI. She's already won this competition and her album will be great. It will only sell 450 copies but it will still be good.

Rock Mommy

Re: AI is really good this season

We are watching AI and Dancing With the Stars as a family this season. Ethan is loving it and we all get into the voting and judging.

Michael Johns - My favorite guy in the competition.

David Cook - My husband and Ethan's favorite guy left. "David Cook rocks, Mommy!" Even I had to give him his due when he made that horrible Lionel Richie song ("Hello") listenable.

Chikezie - "When you know my name...When you know my name's Chikezie baby!" <-- how can anyone not love him after that performance?! We all really enjoy him and thinks he deserves more respect.

David A. - Liked him in the beginning, but he is only capable of singing mopey songs that are not appropriate for his age. He should have sung "I saw her standing there" during one of the Beatles weeks.

Jason - He's charming, I suppose...but he's just not up to the challenge.

Ramiele - Talented, but way boring.

Kristy Lee Cook - My husband and Ethan think she is crap. I think she's cute and has a moderate chance at doing some country thing, but is definitely nearing her end in the competition.

Syesha - She's stunningly beautiful and has a great voice at times, but she's so one note....no pun....she's actually kind of boring.

Brooke - As much as I want to not like her goody-goody Mormon self, I can't help but love her. Her voice has a great quality and she can play guitar and piano....she's super talented and undeniable.

Carly - I think she's got the greatest voice in this season's competition and the favorite to win.

Re: great minds think alike

Earlier today I started a thread on here about AI. I got busy at work and exited my internet browser in a fit of rage with my computer. Good thing you're here to pick up where I left off. Sort of. haha.

OKAY! I know YOU know how I feel about each contestant left but i'll post it on this board for everyone else.

Syesha - Good voice. Her personality i'm not big on. She's very pretty and very marketable. She just picks some bad songs and/or bad arrangements. She could go anytime and i'll be okay.

Chikizie - Again, did I spell that right? I don't like HIM personally but a few weeks ago I liked his performance a lot when he did the bluegrass kind of thing. I still hold a grudge towards him for giving shit to Simon. Simon is right 95% of the time so don't try and sass back.

Carly - I like this gal. Sure, it bothers me that she's had a record deal before but... she's actually had a rough time with the industry so I'll give her a break. Her voice is very good and she challenges herself a lot. She's one of the only ones that IS good enough to challenge herself. I'd like to see her in the top 3.

Jason - *swoon* I like the kids style. I like his music choices most of the time. I just wish he'd open up more on stage. I don't him to win it because then he'll have to come out with some crappy corny single. He's better than that.

Brooke - Miss Smiley... ugh. I just... no no no. I don't like "her." Sure, she picks some of my favorite songs of all time and somtimes does them well. That still won't make up for the fact that her doe eyed Bambi act isn't working on me. Vocally, she's just not there. If she was better vocally I might like her more. But.. she's not.

David A. - This kid has got some pipes. I wish he did have his stage daddy on his ass all of the time though. He picks the same type of song over and over again and that IS actually getting old. I wanna see him do something totally out of the box and kick ass. If he wins it it will be okay because he can pull off the cheese-ball songs well.

Kristy - Get the girl off the show. I can't say enough bad things about her. She has butchered some of my favorite songs. I can never forgive her for her attitude during elimation night every week. She just doesn't take this show seriously. She knows she's gonna go anytime and makes a joke out of it. That's pretty sick.

Ramiele - She can sing but does she show it... no! She needs to start picking better songs. Oh, and the crying.. pah-leeze. We all know you've made great friends but I doubt they are gonna give two shits about you in 6 months. You've made it to the top 10!!! SING BETTER!

David C. - I've seen guys like him before. His hair bothers me as does the way he dresses. It's very cliche and there isn't anything unique about him. He sticks out to a lot of people on the show because most of the other contestants are very generic and he has taken on a specific "route" musically. I don't think vocally he's very strong as well. He just doesn't do anything for me. Sorry, Jill :(

Michael Johns - Ehh..... nothing special. He's done some good songs but he doesn't have much of a personality. He's getting by right now on his accent and nice hair.
