Rooney ATX Show Review

well last night i had the most ultimate rooney experience. i met and took pics with matt, robert and taylor before the show. I got there like maaaybe 4 hours before the doors opened, and they were pretty nice. Mischa barton was also there, looking like a top model and NOTHING like she does in the tabloids. everyone was kinda staring her down like they wanted to spit on her, i , on the other hand wanted to go up to her to express to her she inspires my outfits daily (well, most days..sometimes she goes too native american for me). shes really pretty and really tall. once inside, i was front row center. the crowd was a lil skeptical when the bridges were playing, but i enjoyed their music and they all had some cute outfits on. Locksley followed, they did an AWESOME job and pumping the crowd up. I met them later that night and they were sweeeeeeties, too bad there were some girls around them trying to trade birthcontrol for a tshirt (i think they were on something) and making complete jackasses of themselves. ANYWAY, rooney was amazing, as expected. Robert seemed way more into the show this time. When they opened up for the spree, the stage was really congested and i wasnt feeling it too much. THEN in the middle of the show they bust out the ROONEY flag and robert HANDS IT TO ME. I guess cause i didnt stop jumping. singing.dancing. throughout the beginning of the show. so i started waving the flag, but it got pretty heavy and i didnt wanna obscure the crowds vision of ned, matt or robert AND i was kinda hitting some girls accidently, which i think heavily annoyed them. but, whatever i appologized AND theyd be doing the same if they had the flag. When the show ended, we waited like 20 min and met locksley then robert cameout. there werent too many people around him, everyone was pretty chill. then ned followed a little rushed, but i was able to get 2 pics with him, because he didnt like the way he came out in one of them. then i got all of them to sign my details mag. except LOUIS!!! which totally bummed me out because he was the only signature and pic i was missing and scotty was bitchin at 'bob' to book it and get on the bus.. so i asked robert if louis was still on the bus and he said he'd tell him to come out. then. like a knight in shining armour, louis appeared. he was really nice and remembered us by saying, "oh you girls were the ones in the front" which was pretty flippin sweet. all in all, i got all my shit signed and i got some pics. which was totally worth waiting and getting jacked those 75 bucks when i was supossed to see them with the jb and then the venue pulled them. no grudges. oh! and robert also said this was the last CTW tour, then they were gonna head to cali and take a break. GOOD THOSE DUDES NEED SOME SERIOUS TIME OFF!!! so...yea the end! oh, ill post the pics on my myspace when ive finished uploading. they are quite delicious.

oh, and I've been meaning to ask--did anyone get any video of Locksley at the Austin show? I'm bummed out because my friend didn't figure out how to work her video camera until halfway through Rooney's set (she got a couple pictures of Locklsey though) and all I had was a disposable camera I didn't know how to use... :( (lol yes, sadly enough I couldn't figure it out)

ha for real! I'm already excited for the next tour to come!

I liked that one! lol

ugh! I loved that song but unfortunately it's not on any of their albums. it's called "Darling It's True" and it's such a sweet song! I looked it up when I got home. I'm thinking it's something that's going to be on their next album, which is what they've been working on.

just some info from your neighborhood locksley stalker :D haha

Your pictures are really cute! And to address the comment about the lack of Ned's wedding band. He wears it on the chain around his neck. I'm assuming it is more comfortable while he is drumming. I'm not a drummer though so I have no idea.

cause they sounded ok at the austin show...or maybe its cause i knew the words to most of the songs?

I thought they sounded pretty good as well, but I also could barely understand Jesse's singing. However, since I also know the words, I knew what he was saying...as for that being their "sound," the album versions of the songs are much clearer, so...perhaps you could listen to them on myspace? not to try to force them on you or anything, haha. I'm just guessing that you did either catch a bad night or had bad acoustics.

Okay, thank you! I have no problem checking out bands before shows, but I was just expecting different things from Locksley. I had just heard a lot about them being amazing so I figured I would just love them from the first song.

They actually remind me of the Red Walls in regards to their stage show. I adore them to death, but it is almost impossible to understand Logan onstage. The cd's are wonderful, but enjoying the songs are hard live with his method of singing. It is easy to enjoy the music though and their beats because they are so enthusiastic.

i saw a girl with a redwalls tshirt and i was like sweetass shirt and she just kinda made me a face and was like "u know who they are?" and i was like "uh yeah ive seen them live"

Hah, I would have been like "I've heard of them the same way you probably have, through Rooney."
She was probably wearing the shirt as a conversation starter piece with the guys. I've seen so many The Like, Phantom Planet, Everybody Else, etc. shirts at Rooney shows. It is quite random.

yes, that's a very good comparison! I enjoyed the Redwalls when they opened for Rooney, but I had absolutely NO idea what Logan saying. although, sometimes it's hard to understand him non-live as well...it's his singing style. But Locksley's style isn't usually like that, so it seemed a bit odd to me, but I was able to enjoy it more since I knew the songs. :)

I'm thinking maybe their sound system was off or something, because I could hear The Bridges and Rooney singing much better. Nevertheless, you should check out Locksley! ;) they're quite talented.

i honestly had no idea who locksley was (i'm way behind in the music world lately) when i saw them open for rooney last month. usually i'm not too impressed with opening acts at concerts and don't even pay attention, but i was all like "wait, who are these guys?" after they did a few songs. i was pleasantly surprised by what i was hearing, so i went up and bought their cd there. and i love it. so i thought they were quite good actually, this coming from someone who didn't know if they were the bridges or locksley when they came out on stage haha.

Yeah my best friend, my cousin, her fiance and me all drove to Austin for the show and it was sooo worth it! It was Incredible! We weren't in the front like I hoped but we got to meet them before the show. My cousin's fiance was set on seeing the bats fly out at dusk so we went there cause we saw the line to the club and it was long and we knew we couldn't be in the front anyway by then so we went to see the bats and it was pretty cool but of course us girls have to go to the bathroom but we didnt want to miss it so we waited until it was semi over and then went. Well my cousins fiance was like I'm staying here so ok we'll meet him back there well we get to the restroom and he calls my cousin and i hear him saying "get over here now I'm with Rooney I was like no!" He's like yes hurry and come now!" so we got out of the bathroom as fast as humanly possible and I am speed walking to where we were and I see louie's hair I turn around and tell them" It is them!" so I see Louie and Robert there and I was like oh lordy! (not out loud of course) then we were introducing each other but they were bummed casue they missed the bats and i was like I have video! and They were like really can we see so I showed it to them trying not to shake too much cause i was so nervous! oh and they were on their bikes. . .it was cute : ) but Robert was like so do you want to take a picture with us I was like yeah but I didnt want to ask them cause I didn't want to bother them you know their trying to relax before the show but they were so cool about it and they weren't rushing to get away or anything it was awesome! Such nice guys! my cousins fiance actually asked them to wait for 5 min so he could call us and he told them we were in love with the band and stuff and they were like yeah and they were just talking about the bats cause he didn't really know who they were but he recognized them when they pulled up next to him and he asked Louie i think, are y'all in a band and he was like yeah and he said Rooney? and they were like yeah and then thats when he asked them to wait. anywho this is really long but it was totally unbelievable! and my mom and aunt were like you met them and only got one picture! but I was in shock i think cause I was just trying to soak it all in you know. . .oh man but it made my life! oh and i told him we were from San Antonio and Robert was like really? thank you! i was like no thank you! but ok this is really long so you can see my one picture here after it gets approved or my myspace with my other pics from the show! Amazing show by the way!

Such nice guys! my cousins fiance actually asked them to wait for 5 min so he could call us and he told them we were in love with the band and stuff and they were like yeah and they were just talking about the bats cause he didn't really know who they were but he recognized them when they pulled up next to him and he asked Louie i think, are y'all in a band and he was like yeah and he said Rooney? and they were like yeah and then thats when he asked them to wait. anywho this is really long but it was totally unbelievable! and my mom and aunt were like you met them and only got one picture! but I was in shock i think cause I was just trying to soak it all in you know. . .oh man but it made my life! oh and i told him we were from San Antonio and Robert was like really? thank you! i was like no thank you! but ok this is really long so you can see my one picture here after it gets approved or my myspace with my other pics from the show! first off I totally agree with your review. and when the guys switched roles on "keep on rockin in the freeworld" that was awesome! I got them on video. oh and those girls talking to Locksley were really on something... ha
second, I met you!
I was the one right behind you with the black and white rooney shirt on, with my mom we hung out with you and your friend throughout the show with the other two girls who were right next to me.
It was really a great show, considering it was my first headlining show to go to of theirs - since the other Houston ones were canceled- it was pretty awesome!
Can't wait for the next tour and new songs!
And it was nice meeting you, i don't think i got your name but i'm arianna. :)

I think I might've seen you, and you might've possibly spoken to my friend. were you the one who asked to see my friend's t-shirt? she was wearing the black with the white circular design thing on it, and you were talking about how it came in gold or something. or maybe one of your friends did? you do look familiar (based on your profile pic). I know I was at least near you--I had the bear tee on, and I wear glasses?

lol that was my mom who asked your friend about her shirt ( we look alike though- or that's what everyone tells us ha). she was trying to show me what the design on the tote looked like. anywho, i think i saw you as well . i obviously saw your friend since me and my mom talked to her a lil' i wear glasses too but so does my mom hahaha so i don't know if you remember me? lol oh well it's still cool

I have only seen Locksley once, but when I saw them I wasn't too impressed. Granted, I couldn't understand a word of what the lead was singing. I think I probably caught a bad night though because everyone has seemed to love them. Was it just bad acoustics or is that their "sound"?

THE BLONDE ONE SINGING TO LOCKSLEY?!?!!?!?

heh heh, maaaaaybe. XD aw, how embarrassing that someone actually saw me singing, lol! yes, I knew all the words to Locksley except for two songs that I'd never heard before. and I might have been dancing just a bit...hahaha.

haha no worries. i thought it was cool you knew some songs! i was relieved not to be the only one. they are amazing.

yeah, I felt kind of odd before they came on, because I was sure I'd be the only one singing, but then I just thought, 'screw it, because Locksley is way too awesome! I don't care how weird I look!' lol. I really do love them. I couldn't see you very well, but it's nice to know now that I also was not alone!

man, I wish I could've been able to tell them I was already a fan before the show! because I feel like they could've used some real appreciation, instead of those crazy birth control girls you were talking about, hah. although at the merch table Sam asked me if I had the first album while I was buying Garage Sale and I said yes. :D so at least he knows! lol.
