Wonderful Tonight by Pattie Boyd

Anybody else read this book. I'm almost finished and I have to say wow!
Its really good. My views of George Harrison and Eric Clapton are definately a lot wider than before. Not negatively or positively just wider.
Also I wish I could be someone's muse for a song.

in case you didn't know:
she inspired or may have inspired these songs:
Layla
Something
Wonderful tonight
bell bottom blues

But yeah all in all I like the book.

I read that book this summer! So amazing. I love Pattie Boyd, such a wonderfully caring and beautiful person. And I agree about the wider views of both Harrison and Clapton - but honestly, kind of a negative view on Clapton after reading it. And this book made me love George even more :-)

Definitely a must read if you're into biographies, the Beatles, and the 60s, 70s, etc.

i understand what you saying but honestly i can honestly understand what pattie was going through with eric. or atleast my mom could. cause my dad was an alcoholic for so long and the only thing that made him quit was literally death. he was on his death bed for a week in coma because of alcohol woke up and according to him he didn't have the urge to drink. the doctors gave him 6 months and its been almost 10 years.

Wow, I'm so sorry about your dad... but it's amazing that he came through it very strongly. The only reason I have a slightly negative view on Clapton is based on the way he treated Pattie. I thought it was disgusting that while on tour WITH Pattie he would hook up with groupies pretty much in front of her. I know it was a common standard of musicians during the 60s and 70s but I still look down on those musicians for that reason.

oh i understand that part. i remember back when i was 15 i went to a show with my cousins (my cousin sara and her boyfriend adrian aka the father of her children). well we mainly hung out backstage the whole time. adrian was friends with the band. and my friend had gone with me. and we were all excited to meet the band and snack on the free food. and the bands were cool. but at the end of show when went backstage again. we were trying to meet the lead singer and he said "i don't want to sign any fucking autographs" and than proceeded to run-off with a groupie. i was disgusted cause i knew that at the time he was going out with an up and coming actress; who is now an oscar winner. and he cared more about sleeping with groupie (who looked like she's been around the block more than a couple of times) than being nice to his fans. luckily the rest of the band was really nice even though one of the members hit on me (of course he was drunk). but yeah to this day i have no respect for this singer; i mean i still listen to his music occasionally but him as a person i hate. my cousin adrian felt really bad too cause he respects my opinion. (well according to my uncle i was the only person in my family that could relate to him and his love for music. in otherwords i made him feel like family and not an outsider.)

sorry for the long story.

Re: Yes

I'm a big Harrison fan, so when i saw that it was available on itunes, I felt I just had to buy it. I bought it last Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was definitely shocked by many of the stories Pattie shared about both eric and george, but my opinion was not skewed negatively or positively, and my appreciation for george did not lessen. I would definitely recommend this one, especially to a Clapton or Harrison fan.
