Rooney touring with... VANESSA HUDGENS?!

You've GOT to be kidding me. I did some digging on the Jackson County Fair website and discovered that Rooney is opening for Vanessa Hudgens. EEEK! What is the world coming to?

To top it off... tickets will look like this...

2 ADULT Admissions TK NORTH Row 4 5 - 6 $26.00 each $52.00 total

Sub Total $52.00

Convenience Fee $10.00

Handling Fee $2.75

Amount to be charged to your credit card $64.75

For just two tickets. I'd pay that to see Rooney alone but not to see her. I wouldn't pay a dime. This is the closest to me that Rooney has ever played and I actually question whether i'm going to go or not. It's that bad. I'd normally give my right arm to go but this time... we'll see. If anyone is interested in purchasing tickets... they are on sale right now. They actually went on sale today 5/8/08 at 10 a.m.

Anyone else going to the Jackson show?

i am! where are your seats?

I just got them today, so I'm in box 12. I'm from Jackson so I've been to concerts there before. The only track seats left were row 17 and back, and from there you aren't able to see anything! So I chose box seats instead. I like your picture with Robert! Do you just see if they're around after the show? Because I would love to track them down at the fair!

im in row four on the right side. they usually do the meet and greets after the show but i bet they will be walking around the fair maybe, im not sure.

I know exactly what you mean.

About a year ago my fave band ever was doing a show here in Vegas but they were OPENING for PARAMORE! I was like as much as I love them I am NOT about to support Paramore in any way.

Apparently I wasn't the only one who felt that way. When I apologized (like they cared) about not going the next time I saw them they said they actually got that from a lot people.

I have to draw the line. It's like even though technically I would be supporting my fave band I would still be giving my money to something I don't support. That's why the Rooney/JB tour was a no-brainer for me.

Ok! Enough rambling! :]

I think my agenda is pretty much the same.

See, for us people here in MI, we are not centrally located to just drive to a nearby state on either side of us. So, when Rooney comes to MI it's a big deal and you better make sure you get there because its never known when they are coming back. Not like people on the east coast who have a plethora of choices. I live in between Detroit and Chicago. Same distance to both. But, I have friends that live in Detroit so that's naturally where i'd rather go if I can only make one show.

With the new album coming and us having to wait until that is out for a new tour... I just don't want to pass up a chance to see them.

I still have to get my damn tickets. haha. I may be flying solo so I think i'll just buy the cheapest seat.

Exactly. I live around the state line of Michigan and Ohio and they usually only come to Detroit so i can't pass it up. I was sad too because when they did come to Michigan and Ohio it was the first leg of the tour, right before summer and i couldn't just skip two days of school to drive five hours away to Cincinnati.

I was really excited when they came to the Crofoot Ballroom in October. They hadn't been to Michigan in three years, aside from that one Fergie show that I couldn't make, and I was ecstatic to see them again. It's amazing that one of their two random shows is in Michigan of all places! New York I can understand, but Michigan? I guess it's just a case of extreme luck!

The NY show is WAAAAY upstate NY though. It's not like 5 boroughs or anything like that. It's ourside of buffalo, about ten minutes from the Canadian border. So that's really not as likely of a location as you'd think for them to play.

I thought he might do that at the Chicago show earlier this week, he did not..... As I mentioned before, my friend and I were allowed to sit in the bar area (there are two, one that flanks each side of the stage/pit) and it was great, b/c it was not crowded. I think there were some parents amongst us, but it was hard to tell who was a parent and who was a fan...and, frankly, once the music started, I wasn't really paying attention to the attendees.

Rock Mommy, have you brought Ethan to a Rooney show? Or are you waiting on that? Just curious :)

No way. He's been to outdoor festivals and seen some live music, but I would never take him to an indoor show even if it was all ages. I may be a cool mom, but not a bad one. The timing of the show is way too late, it's too loud and it would just be embarrassing, don't you think?!

Still, my husband and I have wondered several times how old E will be when he asks us to go to his first show at the Metro (local Chicago club). We decided that one or both of us will have to attend and stay a respectful (i.e., not cramp his cool style) distance away while still keeping an eye on the newbie hipster showgoer. Ha.

He didn't sing it like that at the Detroit show. He didn't even sing the correct lyric of "kissed all your girlfriends." I think he said "Played" or something else really really low-key and innocent. I was excited to hear "fucked" but I can only imagine what the large bald father in the front row would have thought.

What's with all the Disney kids playing shows with Rooney?

And shouldn't it be the other way around?

I think Vanessa Hudgens should be opening for them.

She's got no cred.

No kind of what cred? She's got the kind of cred that draws asses into seats and dollars into pockets.

What's with all the Disney kids playing shows with Rooney?

And shouldn't it be the other way around?

I think Vanessa Hudgens should be opening for them.

She's got no cred.

No kind of what cred? She's got the kind of cred that draws asses into seats and dollars into pockets.

Also, what the fuck is an elephant ear?

It's all about the benjamins.

An elephant ear is similar to a funnel cake. Flat dough with sugar and cinnamon. Yummy.

Forgot to mention that you also have to pay for gate admission $4.00 and parking $3.00. All that to see a 20 minute set and then sit through Vanessa?

Hey... you look pretty tall in that picture. Were you standing to the left ish of me at the show in Detroit? Were you with another tall girl? haha. I had an orange tank on and shorts.

I may just go to the show... sit through Rooney and then leave and get an elephant ear. Sounds like a night to me!

My plan exactly

Well, it's hardly a tour.. Isn't it only 2 dates? But I do see how it sucks for you! Seeing Rooney headline is much better than them opening (and that basicly goes no matter what band they'd be opening for ;D)

I'm just not surprised...how is this any different than touring with Kelly Clarkson, the Jonas Brothers, and any of the other young pop stars? There's two ways to look at it: (1) Good for them, get as much exposure as possible, especially if that means tapping into a younger (read: disposable income) demographic that will become fans (read: record/tour sales) for several years, or (2) See all previous posts about people complaining about the new kind of fans.

It always comes down to $ and cents....I'm sure Rooney has artisitic intentions, but there's got to be pressure from their label to pick up sales and continue to market their brand.

I totally agree with you about the label pressures. And that's what scares me. I guess I just worry that at some point it'll all go off the deep end and we'll be listening to really cliched music. I want them to get where they want to. I just think that the route that they're being forced to take to get there is kind of painful to watch.
