Chicago

Howdy,

I just returned to the hotel from a long walk.  Not sure where I was, but I saw a sign that said Lincoln Park.  There was a nice trail and it was the most peaceful walk I've had in many weeks.  We have a day off today, and I need it.  The drives from city to city have been tiring, especially when we've been going on little sleep.  It's an early morning van call and then a long drive.  I just watched Ben-Hur in the van.  It gave me strength to go on, to fight for my beliefs, to find the will to live within.  I love a good story about overcoming those who try to keep you down, proving the powerful wrong, etc.  There are some amazing action sequences in the film as well.  I also finished The Crucible on one of the drives.  When I said I was reading it before in an old video blog, I had just started it.  I was glued to the pages, I couldn't put it down.  I thought I would get sick reading as we drive, but I felt fine, maybe it was witchcraft.  It was so frustrating how the girl were pretending to be attacked by an invisible evil and it was all because of jealousy, payback.  I felt awful for Proctor and his wife, but Proctor was strong and made a point by not signing the document in the end, power, strength, I love that.  When someone dies for the greater good, to make a point, not for selfish reason, but to teach, to sacrifice you life to stand by the things you believe in, so brave.  It's what's missing from the world today, our country, our generation.

The tour is going well.  It feels amazing to finally do a real headline tour across the country, with bands we selected and love.  There's a good vibe at the shows and there's nothing better than a good vibe.  I can't wait for the second half of the tour starting in June.  I've received some messages on SayNow, so keep calling if you get the chance.

I'm gonna step out and meet my band mates.  See all your Chicago people tomorrow.  Later.

4 days deep in the U.S. of A.

it's a strange thing to go from gothic cathedrals in europe to giant wal-marts in America. What is it with Wal Mart and me seeing super strange, yet classic American moments between people. Here are two tales from my stop there yesterday to buy socks.

#1 I'm buying Matt some new beard busters when a very obese woman rides by on an electric cart...she didn't want to walk and apparently neither did her grand daughter who rode standing but leaning into granny's belly like a giant bean bag chair. I thought this was funny already and then the little girl opens her mouth as they drive past me...

Little Girl: "I just farted."

Grandma. "That's wonderful. Thanks for sharing."

#2 I'm standing in line dealing with an elderly clerk who insisted that I take a plastic bag when I asked 3 times for no bag. I give her a twenty and the owed change comes to $6.66. The evil looking biker behind me was already using the brush he was about to purchase in his ratty hair. It made a crunchy sound in his dried out pony tail as he read the liner notes from the Godsmack C.D. he was also planning to purchase.

clerk: That don't look good.

ned: what's wrong?

clerk: that's the devil's number.

biker: that ain't the number of the beast...but he's coming alright.

the clerk was genuinely terrified that this man was one of hell's disciples and he magically put the number on that screen.  I took my items back out of the plastic bag and left the store immediately. Wow.

So far the tour has been awesome. really fun bands and we got our new back drop today. Whoopdee doo!

Back to the U.S.A

Back to the U.S.A

Well today was the final show of our Europe tour and what a tour it was. We leave the hotel at 4am tomorrow so some of us have decided not to sleep. We received a special gift from a friend at our record label which cannot be found easily in the U.S. but I will not say what it is until we have safely crossed the border. The show today was interesting.... It was a trade show type of tech festival and I've already forgotten what it was called. All I know is there were robots and basketball hoops that threw the ball back at you and people soldering circuits at tables. Some might have called it "Nerd-core." We fly to LA tomorrow and start our summer tour with bands Locksley and The Bridges on Monday in Salt Lake City. No rest for the wicked--or whatever dude. Just happy for the summer, and the sun. Thanks to everyone in the European union for hosting us so graciously, we'll be back in Germany this summer for Rock im Ring and Rock am Park festivals. See you there,

Louie
Sweet Milano!

Sweet Milano!

Well here we are in Milan with 30 minutes before showtime. There are some nice looking Italians filling into the club and it looks like tonight should be a good one. We just ate a delicious Italian dinner consisting of great bread, 2 types of pasta, veal (or fried eggs for the vegetarians), salad, and spinach. There were eleven of us at a big long table--a nice happy family. We have a day off tomorrow and I wish we could stay in Milan but unfortunately we have to get to Germany instead. Not looking forward to the long flight home on the 26th but it will be nice to be home for a few days. I'll be posting some more photos as soon as I get to a better internet connection.

good charlotte...that's a wrap

we finished the Good Charlotte tour tonight after a killer show at the famous London Brixton Academy. it was short and sweet which cool. truly a nice bunch of guys. a working man's band, can't say enough things about it. today robert and I ran into Har Mar Superstar who is a friend from L.A. and saw a movie in Sheffield..."Son of Rambow." see it, it was great.  talk to you from dublin. can't wait to see Ireland for the first time! ned

Day off in Norwich

Well, not much happening here in Norwich. To be honest I'm pretty bored. Matt and I are sitting in our hotel room listening to music. The only things in our immediate vicinity are an ice-skating place called "Ice Experience," and an ASDA market which is basically an English Wal Mart. So far I've been everywhere aside from the Ice Experience and I don't see myself doing that any time soon. Matt won't go either because he fears he will be injured. It's been really fun doing cover songs in our set. We've been playing "The Weight" alot and it's gone over really well. We've got a couple more in the works so stay tuned for those. We've also been talking about what songs we might resurrect for the next album which is an exciting prospect. Very excited about our upcoming show in Ireland as it will be our first time there. I did an interview with an Irish journalist who claimed that Bono from U2 drinks at a pub near where we are playing so hopefully I can get over there and make his acquaintance. Talk to ya'll later.

Rooney Street Team

If you'd like to belong to the Rooney Street Team (RST), here's what you need to do:

Send all of your info to:
cassidy@soundmgt.com

We need your full name, the city and state you are located in, phone number (if you feel comfortable).  If you're wondering what it means to be on the RST, I'll fill you in.  It's all about spreading the Rooney love.  You can make posters, stickers, pins, decorate your car, etc.  Anything that will give people info about Rooney.  We have a tour coming up this summer and we need help promoting the shows.  It takes more than just an ad in the weekly newspaper and some flyers.  It takes dedicated fans who will work the streets and build the band up in a organic way.

Cassidy will select a team captain in each city.  The team captain is someone who can put in more time organizing how things will work in that city.  Similar to how a quarter back calls the plays on the football field.  If you'd like to be the team captain, then please let us know.  We know a lot of you work or are in school and can't dedicate too much time to the RST.  For those of you who can, your help is greatly appreciated!

And if you're located outside of the US, we still want you on the RST.  There's a lot of work to be done in this crazy old world and it's up to all of us.

Thank you,

Rooney

Edinburgh

Edinburgh

Yo World,

I'm in the dressing room in a venue called The Corn Exchange.  I don't know why it's called that, but it's a normal, large venue.  The Good Charlotte boys just arrived and poked their heads in our room to say hello.  They're very very nice guys.  It's always good to tour with a friendly band.  I did a youtube blog the other day with most of our weeks experiences.  Next week we'll be in the UK.  I'm excited to be back here, it feels like it's been long.   We're playing for new people at these shows, so it's a different vibe from our headline shows.

We can't wait for the headline tour this summer in the states.  It actually starts at the end of the month.  All of us just signed on to the myspace page and replied to a few hundred messages.  There are so many to respond to, but we're making a dent every day.  Sorry if it's taken some time to respond, but we're reading all of them, don't you fear.  Also, if anyone is experiencing a problem with not being accepted to our friends on myspace, we're working on it, so sit tight.

Life is good, I'm happy to be alive.  After that near death experience on the flight back from Tokyo, I said to myself, I'm going to enjoy every second of my life.

I gotta get moving, I've been sitting on my computer way to long.  I gotta shave too, I'm getting a little too scruffy.  Later dudes.

For those of you who'd like to be on our street team, email cassidy@soundmgt.com

Thanks!

Robert
