limping to the finish line

we're limping our way to our last show of our 2007/2008 world tour literally. taylor has a broken toe, I have a broken heel, and we all have broken hearts that this all time fun summer run is about to end.  thanks to everyone who helped us get through the past year including our wicked road crew, families, band friends, and especially, you fans who made it possible for us to go out and do what we love. we love you all. we'll be working on more studio recording the rest of the year and be back out next year. xxxxxxxxoooooooo.

hello

taylor here. sitting in my bedroom in los angeles. we are home today, the bus dropped us off in LA this morning after our vegas show last night. tonight we get right back on the bus and head up to norcal for the fair show. almost starting to get sad that tour is over. we all need the break, and need to record a new album, but the crowds have been so great this summer i know ill miss it when we're done. today is all about doing laundry, seeing a couple friends, and packing a very small backpack for the next little 6 day trip before we're home again. once again, the audiences on this tour have been wicked. thanks to everyone who has been to show and i hope u are getting every penny's worth. ive been having a lot of fun with the setlists we've been creating. for those of u who dont know, we are doing a mixture of calling the world songs, first album songs, 2 unreleased songs from the "lost records", and several covers. we have been having fun with alternate lead singers (ned and i on "the weight" and "helter skelter" and the bridge section of "believe in me"), and even some instrument switching! (on our neil young cover robert plays drums, louie plays guitar and ned sings lead up front). its almost exactly one year since the record came out, and the touring has been really rigorous and exhausting at times....but when its over i know im gonna miss playing to the fans, and hanging with the band and our crew guys. school's out for summer. alice cooper is the shit. peace.

Alabama!

We spent the day off in Oxford, Alabama yesterday and it was tremendous. Hosted by the Bridges family and friends, we enjoyed great food, water volleyball, jam sessions and some freestyle golfing. The batteries recharged, and the good times rolled. Bout to play here in Birmingham so I'll talk to ya'll later.

whats the best part about rooney's tour manager scotty haulter? scotty is a former major league baseball clubhouse manager and has many connections in the sport. today we saw our 4th game of the season in atlanta where the braves smoked the seattle mariners. we had seats right behind home plate courtesy of Atlanta braves left handed pitcher and Rooney bro Royce Ring...Thank You Royce and Scotty...you are the men.
Rams Head in Baltimore

Rams Head in Baltimore

Hello Baltimore! Hello to everyone else as well. I've been slacking on the tour blogging but that ends TODAY. Many tales of life with Rooney and friends on the road to come. The wait is over. Resistance is futile etc. Let's kick some butt.

Festivals

Festivals

We're in Hamburg today, just finished the Rock am Ring and Rock im Park festivals.  Words can't describe how exciting it was to be on that stage.  The crowd was amazing!  We didn't want to end the show.  The first night acoustically was tough cause we played in a massive tent, with high ceiling, not ideal for the live show sound.  Plus, it was hard to hear ourselves on stage, so you have to focus harder on your playing and singing, etc.  It's the best when you can forget about what your doing and just feel the music.  I know that sounds cheesy, but it's true, there's something about letting go that really puts you in the moment.  As a foreign band to Germany, we were so happy to get such a warm response and have so many people watch us play.  There are lots of bands on the festival, lots of competition, so you never know how the turn out will be.  The room was packed and everyone was working with us.  I have some footage from the stage, which we're planning on using in our tour DVD.  Yes, that's right, we're making a tour DVD, better believe it girl.  Now we have 4 days off before the next festival in Sweden.  I've never been to Sweden and can't wait, all of us can't wait.  We have this time off to enjoy Europe, our European vacation.  Hamburg is a great city and we're lucky to have this time off here.  I can see the city from the hotel window, I should probably get out of this room and off the internet to explore.  Talk to you all later.

howdy

hi gang. howzit hangin? vacation is treating me well. time off is nice. however.....this summer tour is R.G.R.........that means Really Gonna Rock. its time for us to hit the US with a full headlining show. the setlist will be comprised of our new record, our first record, and a smattering of unreleased b-sides, and cover tunes. sounds like fun, eh? the bridges and locksley are excellent support bands (and just straight up good bands in their own right) and lots of fun to do shows with and throw a football around the parking lot with. sometimes i moonlight as the sound engineer for the bridges. i like mixin them purty harmonies. those gals can sing real good. its been a great year for us, and its not over yet. we have lots of exciting rooney projects on the horizon. see you soon.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!!!!!!

To all the Mother's in the world, who mothered such loving Rooney fans, thank you.  I'm in Napa valley right now with my family.  My cousin got married yesterday and I'm staying here for a few days to get some peace and quiet.  It's very beautiful outside, a real change from the touring life.  The weather is perfect.  I had to drive out to Atlanta to catch a direct flight to SF yesterday morning.  I was on the 8:50am flight, I had a terrible time finding the airport, I made many stops at random gas stations to ask for directions.  I had return my car rental and rush to the check in counter.  I missed my flight, not because I got their too late, but because I had a bad feeling about the getting on the plane and I decided to take the next one.  There were some suspicious looking people waiting at the gate and I quickly snapped into survival moment, not mention the terrorist threat level was changed to Orange the PA announced it throughout the airport over and over .  Anyway, I made it here and I feel much better.  I've been reading Sophocles, I finally made it to the book store and picked up some great reading material.  I finished Antigone and Oedipus the King, also Arthur Miller's All My Sons.  I'm on a playwright kick right now.  Really great reading, I highly recommend those plays.  Next, I'll be tackling Electra and then Dante's Inferno.  Today is day one of our vacation, which has been a long time coming.  I fly home to LA on Wednesday and I think I'll be there until June 4th, when we fly to Europe for the festivals.  Well, have a wonderful day and pick up Freakonomics if you have a chance.  Later.
